One of the most heart-warming story's of the later series is that of Jason Porter. Jason was a Harchester fan through and through, a true dragon with purple blood. He had been to every single match at the Dragon's Lair with his mates Big Phil and Deano. But that all changed when during a friendly at Southend Jason bit off more than he could chew when Alex Dempsey put him in the squad after Jason pushed him over the edge by shouting abuse. Jason scored the winning goal of the match, the media loved him. Jason was currently working in a local Tyre Bay, and so adopted the nickname "Tyre-Boy". Jason went from Fan to Premiership Player, a lifestyle to which he never really adapted to.
Karl Fletcher - Harchester's star striker - found himself involved with not one but two ladies, the chairwoman Stephanie Jacobs and her daughter Georgina. Georgina first found out about her mothers affair with her boyfriend when she over heard a conversation in the toilets. Sadly there was no happy ending in sight as Georgina fell into a spiral of depression and attempted suicide. Her liver was badly damaged, leaving her mum feeling very guilty and with a desperate search to find a donor to save her daughters life....
From one love triangle to another and it will come as no surprise that involves none other than Karl Fletcher, this time it involves the first lady of Harchester Lynda Block and Sam Irving. With Lynda pending a court trial for murder, knowing that she is going to be sent down she is looking for security and someone to wait for her on the outside, Knowing that Sam can offer all of this to her she agrees to marry him despite not really loving him. But of course as we all know her one true love is Fletch. Sam catches Lynda and Fletch together on the eve of their wedding in the teams changing rooms sharing a passionate kiss, Feeling dejected and hurt he leaves with only one thing left to do, publicly humiliate Lynda.
Passion again is at the forefront with our voters. After the departure of Luis, Lynda is once again a free woman. With the pressures of running a debt ridden football club and fighting fires with the board members, Lynda falls into the arms of team's manager Ray Wyatt. Ray is missing wife Kitty and their son who are spending Christmas in Thailand with Kitty's ill father. The pair find themselves alone in Paris on Christmas Eve whilst in the middle of signing Monday Bandele and discover they have feelings for one another. In later weeks Lynda finds herself pregnant and very alone when Ray chooses to go back to his wife.
Former plumber and general Mr. Nice Guy Phil Wallis brought into the club after winning a treble rollover on the national lottery. Sadly his stay in Harchester is very brief and seemingly cursed after losing his wife and the repect of those around him he decides he has had enough and the best way to get out, it to give the club away in a raffle of ticket stubs from the final game of the season. This then starts a power struggle as various contenders come forward to claim the prize. A family of Liverpudlians, a junior member of the squad and a life long Harchester fan fight for the club.
After Eli Knox gambled Tommy Valentine away to a Russian football club the fans were left angry. Don Barker orchestrated with a bunch of hard core supporters a protest, however this broke out in a riot during an FA Cup game at the Lair. Eli Knox ironically held Dean Boyle and Don Barker responsible for the fans outrage. Their jobs were on the line and would be sacked, the only thing that would save their jobs was a win against Lazio in the next Champions league game. Not having enough faith in the team, Dean and Don paid the supports to incite racial hatred towards Harchester's foreign players in order to get the game thrown in their favour. This was the beginning of the end for Barker!
Jerry Block is undoubtedly one of HUFC's most loved chairmen!. Throughout season 2 fans were gripped by the (you guessed it) love triangle between Jerry, his wife Lynda and clubs player/manager Luis Amor Rodreguez. Unable to control his jealousy, Jerry hired a hitman to kill Luis at the FA Cup Final, which was the start of his downfall. Lynda found evidence of Jerry's involvement and blackmailed him into taking up a life far far away in Brazil! His lonely departure at the airport was a heart breaking moment for fans. When asked if he was Jerry Block, his reply was "I used to be".
For the second year running Harchester are facing charges of Match Fixing. The FA clear Harchester of any penalties allowing the team to go into their final game of the season against Manchester United which could gain them entry into the Champions League. However UEFA have other ideas. Dean and Jeff fly to Geneva in a last minute attempt to put forward their case to save the club. But UEFA had already made up their mind, Harchester are to be relegated from the Premiership and into the First Division.
Dream Team began telling the story of Dean Hocknell, the 18 year old captain of the youth team, laying his first game with the first team. On his debut he scores a goal and a hero is instantly born. After an evening of celebrating he ends up back at the club with the chairman's Daughter Georgina Jacobs. Unbeknown to Dean, Georgina is only 15 years old. Georgina takes Dean into the boardroom and on to the boardroom table giving the security man, who is watching on CCTV, a real eyeful!!
The legacy of Harchester's crazy yet popular goalkeepers lives on in Vivian 'Jaws' Wright. His wife recently left him after having an affair with one of his team mates leaving Jaws devastated, but not for long however, because his wife Chelsea returns. Or does she? His flat mate Lee is told that she's back and yet living in the same flat so you'd think he would have seen her. Lee finally pieces things together and comes to the conclusion that Jaws is imagining her. Worried for his friend he and Dean enlist the help of his old therapist.
Harchester were yet again in a financial crisis, Cooper's Bank had warned that if Harchester dropped out of the top 5 of the Premiership at any time they would pull funding and close the club. After 3 months in the top 5, Harchester lost a crucial game which put them in 6th position. Cooper's Bank closed down the club. Dean Boyle and Curtis Alexander wouldn't let the club die at any cost. They convinced the players to play for free, the fan's threatened to close their accounts with Coopers bank and Pilar convinced Luke Davenport to play again. Cooper's Bank agreed to let Harchester play on until the end of the season, but the club must get into the Champions League.
Tragedy has always followed Harchester around and for their very first UEFA cup game triumph turns into tragedy when some first team regulars are killed in a place crash on the way back from the game. Sean Hocknell, Leon Richards and his girlfriend Julie are amongst the victims. This couldn't have come at a worst time for Chairman Jerry Block with the police on his back over the Wembley shootings, all club assets having been frozen and to top it off finding out that the insurance wouldn't cover the players on the plane as it wasn't official club transport.
Surely one of Harchester's most emotional and heartbreaking scenes has to be between Stuart and Ryan Naysmith, when they say goodbye to one another. Stuart was found to be involved in the middle of a match fixing scandal after he gave a helping hand to losing a game upon Pilar's orders so that a millionaire sheik could buy the club at a reduced value. When the sheik ordered for Stuart to be killed, Marcel got in the way and took the hit instead. Stuart agreed to testify against the Sheik and his people to save himself from prison, but in return had to give up his life and start again in witness protection meaning father and son could not see or speak to each other again.
Another tear jerking moment without a doubt was the funeral of Jamie Parker. Only hours away from the final game of the season against Everton which would decide Harchester's future; another season in the premiership or a drop to the lower division, Harchester lay their friend to rest. Being his best friend, Fletch made a speech at the funeral which ensured no one in the church (and on their armchairs) would have a dry eye.
After having spent the entire season torturing the team in a quest for Premiership promotion Don went too far and was sacked from the club. Don soon found a job at West Ham, who were to become Harchester's bitter rivals in the Championship Play-Off's. Don arrived at the Millennium stadium hiding Mr. Harchester himself Karl Fletcher's body in the boot of his car along with explosives. Ironically it seemed season 8 was to for once end on a happy note after celebrating a great victory when Barker's gruesome cargo was discovered, so there was only one thing left to do, drive his car into the team coach killing himself along with the Harchester squad and left fans wondering how Harchester could recover.
Liam MacKay is a man with solid principals who always play's to win. No game is a friendly and unless your prepared to get stuck into a game there is no point in playing. During the Carling Cup Final Liam cuts into Maloine with an atrocious challenge. He doesn't even wait for the red card and walks straight off the pitch. Maloine is taken off the pitch on a stretcher with a career finishing injury. Liam's lack of compassion over the incident lead questions as to weather the hard man midfielder intended to cause injury. Premiership football came to an entire halt as insurance companies refused to insure players against such harsh tactics. The Truth Mackay found it hard to take back what he had previously stated.
Eugene Rose and Casper Rose found themselves playing together at Harchester United after years of not speaking to one another. In a special movie length episode we were taken back to 1994 and told the history of the Rose Brothers. Casper and Eugene were friends from a very young age but neither knew they were brothers, a result from Casper's father's affair. When they found out Casper was furious, he wrongly blamed Eugene and the friendship fell apart. When Eugene orchestrated a fake burglary Casper was accidentally shot. This prompted Eugene into making the first move for the brothers to solve their differences and become once again an explosive partnership on the pitch.
Fletch was always a man who found himself in the middle of chaos. Coming to the end of his career and finding himself with no place in the team Fletch decided to help Barker ruin Harchester's promotion chances and earn himself a small wad of cash. Fletch attempted to poison one of his team mates, but instead it was his girlfriend Gina that ended up in Hospital. On the eve of the Play-Off final Barker and Fletch have a final showdown in the Harchester dressing room. A fight leads to Fletch's death when his head is plunged into a coat peg marking the end of an era as we say final farewell to a real Harchester legend.
Lynda Block's first days in charge of owning Harchester United were no picnic after she constantly fought against one of HUFC's board members, Prashant Dattani. Safety issues with the club forced Lynda into financial ruin and only Prash could save the club leaving Lynda with nothing. Upon gaining entry into the Champions League, Prash sells the club for an astonishing £40 million. Prash had also ditched Victoria and Fletch as he no longer needed their help. As resentment growing against the chairman he was found battered to death in his office, but who was his killer? Lynda? Ray? Fletch? or Victoria? With so many suspects it seemed only fitting to keep us guessing over the summer break.
With Jerry out the way Lynda found herself at the helm of HUFC with one major problem, Prashant Dattani. Lynda under pressure from lover Luis, Fans and the Media agreed to sell the club to Prash but only if Harchester are relegated. Prash took no chances and enlisted the help of Didier Baptiste to throw the game in return for a lump sum that would pay off his demanding wife Victoria. In the final game of the season Harchester are warded a penalty in stoppage time that would decide Harchester's fate. Didier steps up to take the penalty....
Fletch was arrested for the murder of Prashant Dattani despite pleading his innocence. His team mates were forced to take the stand and give evidence that would show Fletch to be a violet man. Victoria Baptiste also lurking around trying to blackmail him for money at every turn ensures Fletch gets deeper and deeper into hot water. The verdict is read out in court 'GUILTY'. The court room turns into chaos when chief executive of Harchester. Lynda Block stands up and finally confesses to the crime.
The Harchester team are on board a coach traveling to Amsterdam for the UEFA Cup Final of 2002. Lynda is desperately waiting for a flight at East Midlands airport to flee the country to avoid a pending prison sentence until she hears a news bulletin; the Harchester team coach has crashed on the motorway and is engulfed in flames. After a long wait we discover that Claudia Irving, Stevie Shaw, Danny Rawsthorne and Linton Alexander have sadly been killed.
Jerry never thought of Lynda as anything more than his trophy wife, until it was too late. No wonder she decided to run off with Harchester's handsome Argentinean striker. When Jerry found out about their affair he was distraught and finally realised just how much he loved Lynda, but it was too late. The only thing that would stop the pair running off together would be an end to Luis' life. Jerry hired a hit man to kill Luis at Wembley after the FA Cup Final in front of all the fans. As the team celebrate their win shots are fired, but who took the bullet?
With the arrival of Don Barker, Clyde became an outsider when he constantly found himself disagreeing with the hash Scots manager. Clyde fell into a world of his own, a dark and depressing place. He was paranoid about being bullied by Barker and his right hand man Frank Stone, but no one would listen to Clyde, saying he brought it on himself. Clyde gave up the will to live, and after a brilliant performance which would see Harchester progress to the next round in the Champions League he went to the top of the stadium and jumped off the roof giving us a truly heartbreaking farewell scene.
Without a shadow of doubt this is Dream Team's number one moment, a worthy and unbeatable winner. Patrick Doyle enlisted the help of Jamie Parker to help win his bet that Harchester would be relegated. Jamie soon realised he was in too deep after Patrick made threats on his wife and child. When Tash finally found out what was going on she left him and that was the blow which pushed Jamie over the edge. After Patrick handed him a gun to kill himself, Jamie too the gun to the club instead and took his team mates hostage. After a day of being held up in the Harchester dressing room, Jamie received a phone call from Tash at which point he completely broke down into tears.
