Linton Alexander played by Robbie Gee

Linton Alexander played by Robbie Gee

Linton is a very troublesome person; his arrival in Harchester ended his exodus from professional football after he succumbed to a breakdown. Linton's brother - Curtis - is the star footballer in the family having been playing at the top level at Paris Saint German for a few years, Linton dreams of finishing his turbulent career at the top with his brother by his side. The striker already faces a frosty reception after signing for the Dragons in the form of midfield general Stevie Shaw, the pair have clashed before and will surely spark fireworks once again before the end of the 2001-2002 season.

Linton joins Harchester mid-way through the successful season under caretaker manager Monday Bandele: Originally, Monday is on the look out for a striker able to fill the void they've lacked up front. In an attempt to fill this void he tries to sign PSG star Curtis Alexander who agrees only to sign if they allow Linton a gateway back into the professional game. Having overcome his breakdown Linton clearly still possesses great awareness for the game - he is signed in the hope that Curtis will to agree terms. However in a twist Curtis never even thought of joining and was only using the Dragons to save his brother, both professionally and seemingly emotionally.

Linton and Stevie Shaw obviously have some undeniable tension, but why? The pair were team mates at Charlton Athletic a few years previous to meeting up at the Dragons by pure fate, and the reason for their tension becomes very, very clear when Patrick Doyle brings in a sports psychologist, Dr Gemma McKenzie. She tries to get to the bottom of the mutual loathing between Stevie Shaw and Linton Alexander. It finally emerges that Stevie had an affair with Linton's wife when the pair were team mates at Charlton. Linton begins an ill-fated relationship with team co-ordinator Nikki Peggs, although this seems to be only to spite Stevie who clearly has feelings for her. The hatred is gently simmering until half time in a Premiership clash when Stevie cannot contain it any longer and lashes out - the pair finally exchange blows - Stevie is sent-off. Later that evening when Nikki attempts to probe deeper into the feud, Linton explains that although Stevie had an affair with his wife the real reason for their problems is that Stevie inadvertently caused the death of Linton's son Michael two years earlier.

Stevie is on a downward spiral because of the diminishing relationships with Nikki and the rock bottom feud with Linton he finds solace in the bed of Claudia Irving, the romantic triangle becomes a rhombus! After losing Nikki through his psychotic ways, Linton sadly ends his stay in Harchester prematurely when he dies in the infamous 2002 M1 coach explosion.
