Married to coach David, Dawn is an extrovert, an entertainer, a born performer. She loves being the centre of attention. A former professional dancer, Dawn married David in 1991 when his career was at its peak and he was rich, famous and sexy. When she married David in 1991 they were the then equivalent of 'Posh 'n' Becks' but sadly as the years progressed her career began to sag - as did other things that she is fully aware of. Dawn has grown more and more insecure as she has grown older and is fighting an inner panic as she approaches forty. Dawn's insecurities are magnified by David's increasing success. She is a big flirt who can turn on the charm when she wants and is very up and down but can switch on the showbiz smile when necessary. Dawn's love life is a little chaotic at the moment - husband David is suspicious of her relationship with swashbuckling manager Alan.
David came to Harchester in the summer of 2001 as the sidekick to Alan Rothman, the sqauve new manager at the Dragons. Along with David came his wife Dawn to Harchester, although she isn't nearly as excited over the prospect of a midlands city as her husband is, he sees Harchester as an opportunity for him to perhaps hone his managerial skills in preparation of taking over as top dog in the near future. While the cat was away, so to speak, in Mallorca to be exact preparing for the Champions League qualifier Dawn will play! Alan is by some stroke of fate kept in Harchester to look after club star Karl Fletcher, but he wouldn't throw up the opportunity to reconcile his heated affair with his protégée's wife now would he? However, their heat between the sheets was only temporary as David soon found out about his wife's infidelity, and after a shrewd plan David ousts his professional and personal rival from his job at Harchester. David isn't really ready to forgive Dawn for her awful affair.
Dawn begins her fight to save her marriage from the brink all the while David is having a little fun on the side with Claudia Irving - his bosses' daughter. This is the forbidden fruit for him, and he is loving it. Dawn on the other hand, completely oblivious to her husband's betrayal feels more and more inadequate and definitely loathes her ageing. When the truth about David's saucy antics with Claudia come out into public knowledge, David is kicked out of Harchester like his predecessor, but leaves Dawn behind like a piece of rubbish - he feels liberated. In contrast Dawn begins to erupt onto a quick paced downward spiral of despair. In this spiral she becomes another notch on the forever-increasing bedpost of team-playboy Fletch.
David's mistress - Claudia - is forever on edge, she has received numerous threats and unnerving encounters with a stalker. The identity of this stalker is unknowing until she decides to attack a helpless Claudia and leaves her tied up in an abandoned house in an act of rage and revenge. Dawn's brief fling with Fletch is called off hastily by the striker and Dawn leaves Harchester, leaving a very distressed Claudia behind for Linton Alexander to find in his new home.
