An extrovert in the Bruce Grobelaar mould, he arrived at Harchester on a Bosman-style free transfer from Premiership rivals Chelsea recruited by Harchester manager Ray Wyatt. Despite being considered as one of the hottest goalkeeping talents in England, first team opportunities at Stamford Bridge have proven to be limited, forcing Jamie to accept a move to the Midlands in pursuit of regular first team football and the possibility of a call-up to the national team. While at Chelsea Jamie got used to living among the King's Road glitteratti. This lifestyle led Jamie to regular appearances in the gossip columns, access to guest lists in swanky night-clubs and a flat in Chelsea harbour. When still at Chelsea he was introduced to model Tash Stein and after a whirlwind romance they quickly married.
Jamie faces disciplinary action early in the season when he and Eddie, after a night out in London, fail to turn up to training and are photographed in the paper, drunk in a nightclub. After the clubs humiliating 7-0 defeat to Leeds, Ray Wyatt decides to put Jamie in a reserve game, this does not go down well and after an argument with Tash, Jamie goes missing and ends up sleeping with a lap dancer. Naturally this also gets into the papers and Tash publicly tells everyone that she intends to divorce Jamie. After moving into the Conlon's temporarily she quickly forgives him. Later in the season, when injuring his arm during training, Jamie is told that he wont be able to play again for at least 6 weeks. This gives Jamie more and more time to gamble and before he knows it he is completely hooked. Eddie and Jamie go on a gambling spree with Eddie's money and win, but when She soon realises what is going on and that Jamie has a serious problem. After being hit in the face by the heavy handed bookie she tells Jamie that it is over between the two of them. However, after again forgiving him Tash begins to sort Jamie's gambling out by paying off his debts. For the final game of the season against West Ham Jamie is included in the squad as Ray decides that he is sorting out his problems and seems to be back to his usual self.
The following season, slightly dissatisfied with his marriage and Tash taking on a new job, Jamie talks with new team mate Andrei. He convinces Jamie that what he and Tash needs is a baby. Tash, however, is not convinced and rejects the idea. Andrei informs Jamie that they could ‘buy' a baby from a poor mother in Russia who desperately needs the money. When Tash arranges a birthday party for Jamie at Studs, it is interrupted by the arrival of the Russian baby, and a mass-media frenzy- Jamie announces that the baby belongs to himself and Tash. This makes the Parkers once again the target of a media witch hunt.. The authorities naturally begin to investigate. Tash enlists the help of Andrei to help find, the now, missing mother of the child before the authorities take the baby away and they have to come clean with the media as to how they really got their baby.
When Fletch finds out that Victoria is in a rehabilitation clinic, he plans to go and see her. Jamie realises that this could get his friend on even more trouble, agrees to go there himself, and check in for his own Gambling problems. Sure enough, Jamie meets Victoria, and the pair engage in a very drunken game of Truth or Dare. By the end of the night, all that has been achieved is that Jamie is starting to doubt his best friend, the media are onto the fact that Jamie checked into the clinic, and Jamie wakes up practically naked in Victoria's bed with little memory of how the night ended! When Jamie returns to Harchester he is faced with a media mod and a very angry wife, who now thinks that he has been gambling again. Jamie can't tell the truth because it will jeopardise Fletch's trial. After being dropped for the Shelbourne game, Jamie feels at an all-time low. He takes Peggsy on a gambling spree and manages to lose not only his money, but Peggsy's money too, leaving Jamie feeling very guilty.
When Fletch asks Jamie to take over the money to Victoria that he has got for her to disappear. Jamie wont take it, so later he tricks Tash into taking it over. Victoria records on video tape Tash handing over the bag using Andrei's new video recorder and later demands £500,000 pounds from Jamie in order to stop her going to the police and accusing Tash of interfering with a witness. When Victoria lands this latest bombshell on Jamie he goes berserk and hits Fletch before the two come up with a plan to get the video tape back. Jamie gets Tash to ask Victoria to go with her to the return leg of the Rangers game so that Fletch can fake an injury during half-time and go back to the Barrons, break into Monday's house where Victoria is staying and get the tape. However Danny gets an injury during the game and so the pressure is on Fletch after Rangers score. Before going into the second half, Jamie fakes an injury and goes back to the Barrons, but when Lynda throws Victoria out of the club she goes back home and catches Jamie in the act. When Victoria tells Jamie she has the tape in her bag, he runs after her out the house. He gets into his car to run her down but chickens out at the last minute. Harchester win the Rangers game 2-1 and go through to the next round of the UEFA Cup. Jamie ends up telling Lynda everything. How he went to the Rehab Clinic to see Victoria for Fletch, how he might have slept with her, how she blackmailed him and Fletch and how Tash got implicated by handing over her money. Lynda tells Jamie to tell Tash everything, because the truth is bound to come out eventually. Tash is naturally distraught and she packs a suit case and moves in with Monday Bandele. Monday is in love with Tash but he doesn't want to push her into anything she is uncomfortable with. The pair share a very emotional but intimate kiss, one thing leads to another and they end up spending the night together.
When Jamie begins to get used to the fact that Tash slept with Monday, and he tells her that he does want them to get back together. The pair begin to talk and sort things out, much to the annoyance of Monday who still pines for Tash himself. Tash finds out she is pregnant, but is unsure of who the father is, Jamie or Monday! Jamie overhears Tash on the phone and so knows she is pregnant, but Tash tells him that it is defiantly his baby. Jamie then goes and tells everyone at the club, when Monday finds out he goes and confronts Tash and tells her that if it is his baby, he will support her, but Tash is adamant that Jamie is the father. Soon after Tash breaks down and tells her dad that she is unsure of who the father is.Tash has no option but to come clean with Jamie and go for the tests.
Victoria Baptiste resurfaces in Harchester to torment Jamie. Victoria wastes no time getting down to business, successfully tempting Jamie into cheating on pregnant wife TashVictoria blackmails him into helping her and Claudia by threatening to tell Jamie's hugely pregnant wife Tash about their affair. Jamie lets surveillance experts into Fletch's house to set up secret video cameras, then arranges for Lynda and Karl to meet there in the hope that a tape of them snogging will send Sam ballistic and wreck the wedding plans. But Jamie instead goes to Lynda with the incriminating tape and she and Karl re-record a new version where no spit is swapped. When Tash goes into labout, Monday calls Jamie on his mobile, who at this point is half-way down the M1 on the team coach and only catches half of the phone conversation.
After the coach crash, Jamie ends up in hospital and is quite mentally unstable after the horrific events. With Jamie in hospital, Tash has been having an affair with Robbie Walsh.. Tash is still upset that Jamie is not his normal self and is even more upset when she finds out he relates the whole coach crash incident to Hope, therefore he does not want to speak, hold or touch her. With Jamie back at the Barrons, Tash is struggling to get used to Jamie, who is still not well and not his normal self. Jeff tells Tash that Jamie can get completely sorted out and back to his normal self in a brilliant clinic. There's one problem though… It's in LA. Tash is devastated when she realises she may not see Jamie for another few months. Jamie leaves for LA, alone. He decides he must go alone if he is to get better and Tash is heartbroken. She knows that if she is without Jamie she will be faced with a lot of temptations, one's that she cannot deal with. Just before Christmas, Jamie arrives home unexpectedly, almost finding Robbie and Tash together He wants to go and see the boys at the club, but Tash tells Jamie he should stay home with her and Hope. She then asks him if they can go for a walk because there is something she needs to tell him. Tash and Jamie are still on the walk, Jamie explains how he has now changed and will now once again be a good father to Hope. While Jamie is getting ready for the Christmas party, he comes across a pack of condoms, immediately suspecting foul play. Tash does not know what is wrong with Jamie as he has suddenly seemed to be a bit moody. Jamie asks Fletch if Tash was fine while he was away, Fletch nervously explains that nothing was wrong. Jamie immediately suspects Fletch of sleeping with his wife. Later in the night, Marcel asks Tash to dance and straight away, once again making Jamie suspicious and jealous. Fletch finds Tash and tells her to lay off Robbie and do the right thing. He is seen by Jamie who immediately thinks that Fletch is the one who has been sleeping with his wife. He goes up and head butts him. Robbie explains that is was him and not Fletch, he explains how they love each other, this leads to Jamie storming off. The next day Jamie tells Tash to leave but she tries explaining herself to him. She tells him that they had been going wrong well before the crash and that he hadn't touched her in ages (He was having an affair with Victoria Baptiste). She tells him that she wasn't sleeping and she felt like crap all the time, then a man came a long that just wanted to love her.Jamie is still furious with Tash, he begins picking things up and smashing them. Tash, who is in floods of tears, begs him to stop but he won't. She begs him not to split them up. Jamie asks why he shouldn't, and Tash replies telling him that she is sorry and asks for one more chance. He leaves, leaving Tash alone. Jamie goes round to see Fletch. Karl asks him what he's going to do and he tells him he doesn't know. Jamie has gone back round to see Tash. He tells Tash he will sleep on the sofa while she sleeps in the bed. At a Christmas meal the next day it emerges that Jamie too had an affair while away. Tash is angry at Jamie because he was angry with her for her affair with Robbie when he himself was having an affair with an American Tennis Player, Shannon. Jamie pleads with Tash not to go, but after she has gone he makes his move on Shannon and pleads with her to stay in the UK. However, Jamie and Shannon do not work out. Shannon explains how Tash is still in love with him, and she thinks that he is still in love with Tash. She explains that while they were fighting, he went for Tash and not her. She explains that she is going to go back to America and play in a tennis tournament and that Jamie should ring her when he knows what he wants. However, Robbie also leaves for Brighton and eventually he and Tash concede defeat in trying to continue their relationship.
Jamie's form starts to deteriorate, with him making very costly mistakes as Harchester fight for their Premiership lives. He tells Tash that he is not happy and he cannot believe he made the mistake. He tells her how he dreads touching the ball now the team is fighting relegation. He tells her that he cannot take it anymore, if the team go down he'll be branded a failure. Fletch suspects Jamie is throwing matches, but later changes his mind. However, Fletch's suspicions were in fact correct. Towards the end of the season, Jamie is under increasing pressure from Patrick to slip up, even leading him to poison Fletch. When he gets dropped by Alan after a dismal training display, Jamie cracks up. Jamie makes a scene telling him that he can't, he even offers money to let him play. Alan though tells him that he needs professional help. It's the final day of the 2002-03 season and Harchester are playing Everton, needing a win. Jamie has gone to see Patrick and tells him he's been dropped. He asks him what he should do. Seeing him in such a fragile state, and obviously going mad, Patrick hands him a gun for him to kill himself with. Harchester are trailing by a goal to nil, and if the score stays the same, they will be relegated. Jamie is upstairs in the players lounge, in the toilets. He loads the gun. The whistle blows for half time and Jamie picks himself up.
The team are psyched up, and they here Bolton are losing 2-0. Meanwhile Jamie is making his way to the changing room. Alan tells the team that he is proud of them. Jamie walks in asking what Alex Lawler is doing in his kit. Alan reminds him he's dropped, but Jamie says he has to play as it's the last game of the season. Jamie pulls out a gun, pointing it at the team. He tells him to either to play him or no one does. Jamie has locked them in the dressing room and tells them that he has enough bullets for everyone if they try anything. Marcel tells him to stop being so stupid, but Jamie doesn't listen, he tells some of the players to block the door with the benches. Jamie shoots Abi by accident. All the lads start telling him to ring an ambulance, but this is just frightens him. The police are outside, and order the tunnel to be cleared. They evacuate the stadium. Jamie tells the team that he hasn't slept for five whole days. His phone starts ringing and he picks it up. The negotiator asks how they can help him but Jamie puts the phone down. He asks who called the police; Alan reminds him that he did shoot someone. Stuart asks Jamie if they can get help for Abi but he doesn't listen. She has lost a lot of blood. Fletch is taken upstairs to where the negotiators are situated. He is told that his wife has been shot. He is in shock. They tell him to either stay calm or they cannot use him to speak to Jamie. He rings Jamie, but he doesn't answer. Stuart picks it up and passes the phone over to Jamie when he realizes it's Fletch. Karl says he just wants to help him, and then asks if Abi is hurt. He begs Jamie not to hang up. Jamie apologises and tells him that he never met to hurt him. He tells Karl that Tash won't even speak to him and no one can make his life better. He then puts down the phone. With the team barricaded in the dressing room for a whole six hours. Tash, who is walking the streets with Hope in London, looks up at the big screen to see the news. She is in shock when she realizes Jamie is holding the team hostage. She rings Jeff, who tells her that the police will pick her up and bring her to the club. As the police are about to break in, the negotiator orders ten more minutes as Tash has arrived. She is put through to Jamie, who picks up and upon hearing her voice, breaks down crying. She tells him not to cry and stay strong so the police can get everyone out. Jamie apologises for everything and says that he didn't mean any of it. He tells her that when he agreed to take the bribes, he was still unwell in America with Shannon and that he hardly even knew Hope. He tells Tash that when he let in a goal on purpose for the first time, he stood under the showers for two hours but still couldn't get rid of the feeling. He explains that even when he was sleeping he was dreaming it so in the end it was better no to sleep. He tells her to tell Fletch that it was him that hurt him. He explains that he begged Patrick to let him stop, but he wouldn't let him and said he would lose both Tash and Hope if he did. Tash begins crying herself, along with Karl. Tash tells Jay that he hasn't lost her or Hope and if he comes out she'll be there. She tells Jamie to put the gun down and walk out there door. She reminds him she'll be there. He apologizes to the whole team, and walks out. As he steps out, he just sees darkness and police pointing guns at him. He asks calls out for Tash and the police begin shouting at him to put the gun down. He shouts out and the police shoot, killing him. At his funeral, Fletch vows to keep the Dragons up as a tribute to Jamie and to defy those who had corrupted him. Harchester go on to beat Everton and stay in the Premiership.
