Lynda Block played by Alison King

Lynda Block played by Alison King

Lynda Block's fortunes have been intertwined with Harchester United's ever since she met Jerry Block, the club's owner, whilst working as a make up girl in a department store. Marrying him soon after, she diligently played the role of trophy wife, but as her appreciation of football grew so did her love of footballers. Luis 'Amor' Rodriguez was to become the illicit love of her life, and when Jerry discovered her affair with the Argentinean striker his vengeance was swift, if unsuccessful. A hitman's bullet destined for Luis injured Lynda and during her amnesiac convalescence Jerry concealed the details of her affair. However, when her feelings of love for Luis eventually resurfaced, Lynda discovered the truth behind the assassination attempt and used the information to ruin Jerry and force him out of the country for good. Taking over the running of the club Lynda endured a baptism by fire, and when Luis decided to end his career in Argentina she knew she couldn't go with him. Devastated, the two lovers parted.

The darkest years of Lynda's life followed as a miscarriage with substitute lover and coach Ray Wyatt led to Lynda killing her tormentor, business rival Prash Dattani. After fleeing briefly to Mallorca, Lynda returned to Harchester and fell into the arms of Karl Fletcher. Though their affair was brief it was powerful and when Lynda was finally arrested and incarcerated for Prash's murder she gave birth to Fletch's child in prison. Baby Louis has been living with Lynda's sister Angie during the remainder of her sentence.

Lynda Block is Harchester United and her homecoming is just what the fans, the players and the club need - Hope. The parallels between herself and the club are striking - both have risen, Lazarus-like, and are ready for the next chapter in their tumultuous lives. HUFC literally runs through her veins, so how could she turn down the offer of leading the club into its new era, even if she is sceptical of who the real owners are. The appointment of the renowned Felix Hahn signifies to her that the club's ambitions can once again match her own. Now she has the difficult task of building an entire new team, good enough to compete in the Premiership and win some much-needed silverware. Never one to shy away from a challenge, Lynda finds herself once more in charge of the club that has caused her so much anguish, hoping that this time, at last, she'll do it right, but as usual for Lynda things don't go to plan.

Lynda holds on during her first season out of prison by the skin of her teeth as she is messed around by the mysterious new owner, lied to by the ones around her she trusts and being conned by a middle aged postman who attempts to rip the fans off of their hard earn cash. Lynda finds romance in the form of Alex Dempsey, but things don't go to plan their either, when Alex kills Casper Rose, the player who is eventually revealed as the mysterious owner! At the point Lynda finds herself pregnant and feeling alone. Lynda helps Alex to cover-up the murder, but soon enough finds herself the number one suspect! Alex eventually confesses to the murder, and a lonely, pregnant and depressed Lynda leaves Harchester and the club behind her once and for all!
