Eddie Moliano played by Ed Sanders

Eddie Moliano played by Ed Sanders

Eddie Molliano comes from a very large family with many footballing connections. He has worked hard to get where he is today but now that he's here, he's determined to enjoy himself. He is a decent player, nothing special but he can be when he puts his mind to it. Eddie often neglects his football and he is guilty of enjoying the perks of being a professional footballer a little too much. He is the life and soul of the dressing room and he is always the first to comment on everything. Eddie came up through the youth academy at Crystal Palace. Palace were seen as a yo yo club during the mid nineties and Eddie broke into their first team during this period. He learned his trade mainly in the First Division. He never really stood out but his work rate always ensured him a place in the side. As the years went on, Eddie got better and better. He was always one of the first names on the team sheet and he was an ever present during their promotion campaign of 1996/97. Eddie scored the goals which ensured Premiership football at Selhurst Park the following season and he became an idol to many of the Palace fans. The club struggled in the Premiership but Eddie was one of the few players to come out of the campaign with any credit. Their was no doubt that Eddie was a Premiership player so their was no chance that he would be staying with Palace if it meant spending another season in the First Division.

He joined Harchester United at the start of the 1999/00 season for a fee believed to be in the region of £500k . However, once he had signed for the club, the management grew increasingly concerned by his attitude. He was more interested in making people laugh than he was in playing football. As a result of this, he struggled to establish himself in the team. He soon became known as the funny man of the dressing room and he was always the first to make a wise crack. He soon struck up a friendship with team rebel, Scott Lucas and the pair were inseperable. After the plane crash, Eddie began to hold down a more regular place in the side but his performances still left a lot to be desired. As the season went on, the pair began to drift apart, Scott went through a difficult period and after he met Ann Paterson, he started to mature, this meant that the pair had less in common. When Karl Fletcher re-joined Harchester from Mallorca, Eddie took a shining to him and, in a way, he replaced Scott as his partner in crime. Eddie finished the season well as he helped Harchester avoid relegation on the last day of the season against Spurs.

He remained at the club for the 2000/01 season. Harchester had signed several players during the summer, these players included Jamie Parker and Campbell Hooper. Eddie was the first person to welcome Jamie to the club. The pair went to a car dealership and took one of the cars for a test drive. They ended up losing track of the time which prompted the dealership to call the police which culminated in a high speed car chase. Both players were fined two weeks wages over the incident. Campbell Hooper was another new signing who Eddie took a liking to, after a while Eddie agreed to let Campbell move into his house as a lodger. Things seemed to be going well for Eddie off the field but things weren't going as well on it. The Harchester squad was looking very strong and their was a lot of competition for places. Eddie had been neglecting his football and it showed in training. Ray was concerned by this so he promoted Danny Rawsthorne from the youth team in a attempt to push Eddie for his place. Eddie saw Danny as a threat and he wasn't happy that he was also friends with Campbell. Danny would often embarass Eddie in training and then one day, Eddie lost his temper and started fouling him. Ray was sick of Eddie's attitude, he was no longer any use to the side and he started to look at the possibility of getting rid of him. QPR came in with a loan bid which the club accepted, Eddie didn't want to go at first but after the fight with Danny, he felt like he had no choice. Before he went, Campbell asked if Danny could move into the house, Eddie reluctantly agreed but he didn't want them throwing any parties without him. Eddie's form didn't improve at QPR. He didn't impress Jerry Francis in training and as a result he spent most of the loan spell sitting on the bench. The loan move was a failure and he returned to Harchester no better than he was when he left. He had lost his place in the Harchester side to Danny Rawsthorne and Eddie realized that he needed to work hard if he wanted to win it back. He started to question his lifestyle and he analysed old footage of himself at Crystal Palace in an attempt to see where he was going wrong. During this time, Harchester accepted an offer from Finish side FC Haka for him but he had no interest in playing in Finland and he also determined to show Ray what he could really do. Eddie's form in training gradually improved after he met a girl called Maria. Eddie thought he was in love with her and she had a positive effect on his football. He eventually won his place back in the side and he felt like he was on top of the world. This posed a problem for Campbell because he had met Maria at a party several months earlier and he knew that she was only after Eddie's money. In the end, Campbell told Eddie the truth. Eddie was in denial about the news at first and he blamed Campbell. Eventually he came to accept that what Campbell had said was the truth. Eddie soon got over it and his good form continued as he helped Harchester qualify for the Champions League. Eddie had proven to himself that he was capable of playing in the Premiership and everybody at the club was impressed by his performances. During the closed season, Nottingham Forest came in for him and he decided that it was time to move on.
