Age 22, The Bad Boy Striker. Growing up on an estate in South London, the young Eugene Christie had three things that occupied his time: stealing cars, graffiti and football. Always knocking about with the same 'crew', the one thing that set Eugene apart from his friends was his tremendous natural ability as a footballer. Signed as a schoolboy by Charlton it was here that he first met Casper Rose. Together they formed a deadly strike partnership with an almost telepathic understanding of each other's game.
His future was bright; everything was going right until the Rose family made a discovery that shook their foundations. Eugene's absent father was none other that white ex-footballer Terry Rose, Cass' own father. Cass' family dissolved and the boys were ripped apart both on and off the pitch. Cass punished Eugene with a terrible payback and they've hated each other since. Eugene stuck with Charlton and proved he was not overawed by the big stage. He is, however, a product of where he was born - loyal to the extreme, he lives by a moral code unique to the gang culture that he has grown up with and this is a mindset that will prove difficult to shift.
Apart from his adoring wife Scarlett, the boys that he has spent his youth with are his family and while they might hold him back as a footballer, he cannot seem to leave them behind. Eugene has been charged with aggravated burglary. Pleading not guilty to this charge he will face a court case in the future. Due to previous convictions Eugene already has to wear an electronic tag and has strict curfews to adhere to when we meet him. He knows that Harchester represents his last chance, but he is who he is. Away from the familiar environment of his old South London crew, Eugene is a volatile member of the changing room, aloof and moody - unwilling to make friends, he keeps himself to himself and threatens anyone trying to invade his space or get in his face. Can Eugene ever fit in at Harchester or will his past catch up with him and threaten his future?
Eugene has a rocky year at the club despite the fact the club stand bys him over his charges of burglary which he is subsequently cleared of. Firstly his relationship with his brother Casper is unstable to say the least, though the pair eventually make amends and become good friends again Eugene’s volatile personality is the cause of many arguments in the dressing room. His marriage with Scarlett breaks down which leaves his distraught but things get worse for him when an old girlfriend crawls out of the woodwork with a 5 year old daughter Eugene didn’t know existed. For while Eugene is happy at the thought of fatherhood but Jessica, the child’s mother, doesn’t buy the new and improved Eugene and subsequently goes back to live in Australia. Eugene’s last hour at Harchester comes when his brother Casper is murdered, Eugene realises there is nothing left for him at Harchester anymore and decides to go to Australia to be with his daughter.
